Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out if I should purchase Microsoft Project Standard 2013 or Project Professional 2013 for work. I've never used MS Project but I feel like I've gotten to the point where managing projects through excel and opensource tools aren't doing the trick for me anymore.
I've looked at a few comparisons such as:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc750929.aspx
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project/project-management-and-ppm-software-comparisons-microsoft-project-FX103797367.aspx
But, I'd like to know if anyone has had any experience with both versions and which one worked better for them. Here are my main requirements:
I also know that we won't need the Project Server.
When I looked at the comparison chart on the second link, the one that worried me was: 'Easily manage resources: Visually create the right mix of resources using drag and drop.' since I need to do this and it's only available on professional. I wonder if standard does have a way to do this and they just don't advertise it.
Any help would be great! Thanks!
What are the differences between MS Project 2016 Professional and Standard to MS Project 2013 Professional and Standard? Good morning, Has anyone seen any published documentation from Microsoft which states the differences between MS Project 2016 and MS Project 2013 (both standard and professional)?

You can review differences between the current version and an earlier or later version of the same project in a detailed report.
- On the Report tab, choose Compare Projects.(In Project 2010, on the Project tab, in the Reports group, choose Compare Projects.)
- Select the project version you want to compare from the drop-down list.To locate project versions, choose Browse. You must log on to Project Server to open projects that are stored there. You can only compare project versions for which you have access permissions.
- In the Task Table and Resource Table lists, select the tables that contain the data that you want to compare. If you don't want to compare tasks or resources, select (None).
- Choose OK.
You can save the report for future reference.
Notes:
- The color coding and indicators for the comparison report are described in the Legend for Comparison Report pane on the left side of the screen.
- A comparison report contains only the differences between the two versions. It is not a consolidation of the two projects.
- This utility does not compare assignments. It compares tasks and resources only.
